ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday fixed contempt of court petitions against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry for hearing on April 4.
The petitions will be heard by a three-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan.
Advocate Naseer Kayani filed a petition in 2014 against Imran Khan, accusing him of committing contempt of court by using derogatory and abusive language against former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. Hashmat Ali Habib will appear as counsel of the petitioner.
Advocate Riaz Hanif Rahi has filed separate contempt of court petitions against Nawaz Sharif and Iftikhar Chaudhry. Both the applications against Iftikhar Chaudhry are about the provision of a bullet-proof vehicle to him, who is now a politician and has formed his own political party.
