PESHAWAR: The district administration has warned of legal action against those schools which are not complying with the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud directing private school authorities not to charge double fees during summer holidays.
Those schools which are not complying with the order would face legal cases in Consumer Court, an official of the DC Office said. On May 27, the deputy commissioner had issued the orders and directed the school administrations to refrain from making any annual increase in fees without permission from the Consumer Court.
The official informed that the deputy commissioner issued the order under the Consumer Act of 1997, ensuring consumer’s interest. On Tuesday, the deputy commissioner sent an inspection team to different schools to check compliance of the order, the official said.
The team members including Additional Assistant Commissioner Mehmud Khan, Magistrate Mir Khawas Khan Wazir, Consumer Protection assistant director and officials of the Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. The team members visited several schools including Beacon House Hayatabad, City School and some others.
The administrations of these schools assured the inspection team about compliance of the order issued by the deputy commissioner. On the other hand, parents of children studying in different schools said that the school administrations were not complying with the orders and issuing double fees receipts.
The official advised parents to lodge complaints against those schools at the Consumer Court or the Deputy Commissioner Office so that action could be taken against them.
