KARACHI: Sindh Assembly has announced a budget outlay of Rs 869 billion for the financial year of 2016-2017 on Saturday, that is augmented by 15 per cent as compared to the budget for 2015-2016 fiscal year.
Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has presented the budget for this year in Sindh assembly after the approval of provincial cabinet members in presence of Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani.
“All our focus is on economic development and stability, and better human lives and facilities,” Shah said in his budget speech. The biggest amount out of the budget has been allocated for education that amounts Rs 150 billion however health sector has been given Rs 55 billion this year. The collective budget for Sindh Home Department and the police has been suggested to be Rs 70 billion.
Contrary to that, there is a package of Rs10 billion that has been set aside for Karachi that will be featured in next year’s budgetary proposal. Many development projects were not completed due to low development funds in Sindh budget for last year.
